Well, glad I was out enjoying a company paid dinner. I left to go to the washroom when they were checking the scores. If I'm not home, I don't want to know. But my friend mentioned "well, we're either losing badly or winning badly." Oh how we know our team so well!
And Price isn't tired. Price IS however tired of his stupid team forgetting what defence is, forgetting that perimeter shots are useless if you've got no one to go for the rebound, and just generally sucking. Habs are going to have to pay him a shitload of money to stay here when his next contract comes around. (Not that he doesn't deserve it, because he SHOULD be paid very well).
Happy to hear PK scored and that OH EM GEE he was paired with Wiz on the powerplay. Oh look, goals! For a while there I was getting worried they were punishing him for scoring a hat trick. Also happy to see Brent Sopel's pissed off post-game tweet.
As they near the end of the season, we just need to hope they get this shit sorted out. Of course if the Pens somehow manage to jump over the Flyers, I say fall to 8th and keep McSplooge away from calling the game. (They have a seriously incredible losing record when he calls the games).
PS. I won a doughnut.

Thrasher 3, Habs 0: Well...

Since the Habs didn't bother showing up until a bit of the 3rd and had Alex Auld face 47 shots while doing fuck all, I won't bother showing up for this blog. I also think they won 1 faceoff and it was Lars Eller sometime in the second. I will say that the Habs have a very strange or unique streak going on...and it's the fact they still haven't given up more than 3 goals in regulation.
You know how pissed off we get when stupid Habs fans start singing the Good Bye song in non-playoff games? Yea, the Thrashers were playing it with 11 seconds left. As in their organ grinder was playing it, with some singalong via the 10 fans that showed up while coddling the Tin Foil Cup. Now that's douchey.
Hey! The Islanders won today! So did the Baie Comeau Drakkar! Which totally ruins my bet for who will win first between the two.... God damn equal suckage opportunity!

Habs 2, Whalercanes 5: In which I expect every one of you to eat those hats (except the goalies)

I'm tired. I don't even want to comment on this game. All I'll say is BARFJOB and you'll need some BARF DETERGENT to clean it. So start cleaning.

Sens 2, Habs whatever: What, already?
Back to the way we were, I suppose.
Disjointed lines. Passes that stay behind. Passes that go more to feet than blades. Blades that go to faces (holy shit, Travis Touchdown, PLEASE BE OK). Powerplay that seems to scream "SOS Mathieu Schneider". Defence that can't make a play to clear the zone. Forwards that think the netting is the net. And luckily for Jaro, the Sens failed on many 2-on-1s and 3-on-1s. Misses and posts and fanned shots, oh my!
However, I feel like I'm repeating myself when I say JARO! STAY IN YOUR NET! Or at least stay on your own two-feet if you leave it...
I think the only things of interest that managed to grab my attention away from cooking, and correcting my father's mislabeled facebook pictures (sigh), was the fact that PRICE ISN'T WEARING THE RED PADS ANYMORE (SADNESS!!!) and Jacques Martin has a very pointy head.
And while I was so sure Kovy would slump bust for 10 points tonight, the fact he didn't means it's worse than we thought. He's sulking bad. Does Bryan Murray take him for a walk by the canal? Does he give Gainey a call for help? Or does SLC run him over with a car?
Frankly I could only think of this:
Pour one for Travis Touchdown. Apparently25 55 stitches, no eyes were damage. He doesn't wear a visor because it gets in his way. But hey, Brendan Witt got hit by a truck and played later that day... Those Saskatchewan boys are built tough.

Catching a breather

Apparently 5 days of straight hockey overloaded my system. It happens. So while Martin skates the boys to the bone and whips Sergei into shape, I'm relaxing on my sofa, watching the reports, booing the Leafs, vomiting at Pierre McGuire, and wondering why the Blackhawks were so crappy tonight against the Caps.
Tomorrow's a big day though. The Bulldogs are playing in Scotland, pondering kilts, and OMG I don't have a meeting scheduled until Monday so I can listen to it on the radio. (Yea, we have a shitload of meetings at work... We're so organized that it gets very disorganized actually). Then the Booins are in town.
I'm getting my game face on. Brother's copy of NHL10 is in tomorrow. Woo for free games!

Offseason Sucks: WTF trade rumour of the day...

I hate the offseason. Did I mention this before? I'm sure I did... As if last week's barfjob trade rumour du jour of Price for Luongo straight up moments after the Crapnucks got punched out of the playoffs wasn't bad enough, today's is even worse. Chew on this one: Briererer and some top prospect for Price and the rights to talk to Komo.
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrl...
Seriously, where do people come up with this crap?
When Brierererer decided to say no to Bob last time he went after him, it made Bob into a genius. Unless of course you're a Chez Nous type French Canadian... Briererer is way too expensive and not worth that price per production. Never mind the number 1 netfan complaint of the Habs already being a pack of midgets, do we need another one? We got cheaper younger ones in the pipeline. Plus we got a Briererer type: his name is Tanguay (assuming he comes back, and probably will). Only he's taller, but equally made of glass. Difference is Tango is younger by a few years and has some better jewelry.
Also since when is just chatting to Komo worth a Sbisa, or a Van Riemsdyk, or a Gauthier? And just why would would the Flyers give away any of those guys?
As for Price, unless Bob Gainey turns out to actually be Rejean Houle in a Bob Gainey suit, forget about it. And don't even bring up the crap about his dad being drafted by the Flyers. Never mind the fact WE WON'T HAVE A FUCKING GOALIE YOU IDIOTS! And if you think a Halak-Denis tandem will be ok you're smoking some sweet poutine.
Normally I avoid rumours, however the idiots on the radio think because there's nothing to do it would be cool to mention it...every...fucking...hour...
Give me October, please.

Pillsbury City: Habs 4 Pens 5

Can you guys stop with the turnovers? Can you guys STOP interfering with Price so he can move to make the save? Can you guys attack the point man instead of letting him shoot rockets at your goalie, doesn't matter who it is, while he's screened and can be deflected easily on? Can Higgins put the puck in the net when it matters instead of having it bobble on the goal line or tip it wide? Can defense actually, you know, defend instead of allowing 3 guys have their way with your goalie? Situations like that are 50/50, it doesn't matter who's in nets. If it's Malkin on the attack, forget it, it's a goal. That's like allowing Ovechkin the free length of the ice. Oh ya! We saw that yesterday.
- Schneider's first goal with the Habs in 13 years. Thank you for that, else the 5-on-3 would have been a total waste like the other powerplays tonight.
- The BelaRocket is on fire again. Two assists and one hell of a goal.
- His linemates were also the best on the ice. SuperPleky with two goals and an assist. Patches with an assist himself but he also did the yeoman's work for the night. I guess if this were Hamilton we'd give him the Flamboro Downs Workhorse mention.
- Play of the day.
- Or this?
- Maybe this.
- What did all those goals have in common? Shoot from the top of the circle: goal.
- Dipsy doodle dangle daisy: no goal, and an odd-man rush the other way. Video man, make them study this.
- Malkin doesn't like being annoyed.
- I guess the two games in a row drained the life out of Koivu...Actually I can say that for a few guys tonight.
- I guess we can thank the NHL schedule makers for injuring Bubbles, because that's what happens when players are pooped. Looks like his knee again.
- Not helping Price out will just piss him off more. HE HATES LOSING and no one is making his life easier. Come on guys, give him some help there. Half the time it was Price vs the Pens and like Therrien, the new coach has Malkin/Crosby out there every minute.
- What the hell did the puck hit on the clearing pass? It hit the glass, bounced up, and then right back down. Of course it gave a goal against.
- Carbo get your whip out. That defense play needs work. As does getting to the puck before the other guy.
- Kooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Funny story in the Hamilton Spector on Sergei about him not being there for practice and people going ballistic with speculations that he refused to report when, in fact, he was on his way. It was just late because they were arranging things after their late practice. GM Brisebois said he wanted his car with him so it was taking a bit longer. He's flying in anyway. Guess the porsche comes later.
Scary event: The Albany River Rats (bHurricanes) bus crashed last night on their way back from a game in Lowell, Massachussets (bDevils home). Thankfully no one was killed but four players and a staff member were seriously injured.

A League of Bollocks

As if I weren't pissed off already, because how the fuck did April showers get into my February... And as if Plekanec wasn't having a bad enough year to begin with.
Double-U Tee Eff, mate!
Since when do players get suspended from that, considering it:
- Wasn't an icing chase down slew foot.
- Was two players locked and ready to slide towards the boards to get the puck in what we've all seen countless times.
- Borderline tripping call considering Grebeshkov was leaning way too far back in his attempt to halt Plekanec on the play.
- It's the little girl, Plekanec!
So now according to the league, players get suspended for accidents that happen during a rather physical game where an injury occures? Do they make this up as they go along?
If Plekanec were Ovechkin you'd hear nothing of it.
Bollocks NHL.
Guess we'll also hear how Plekanec is "evil" from Don Cherry on Saturday too.
----------------
The boys had a big practice and nearly added to their own woes. Koivu and Begin nearly broke Price's face after colliding with him. Kovy whacked Markov in the face with his stick. Kostopoulos also took a stick to the head. I guess high altitude does that.CJAD had a "how would you fix the Habs" question, regarding trades or weathering the storm with patiences. First to call in was a "trade Koivu, he's done nothing!" rant. Another guy with a bit more brains said "stop line juggling, they're not robots, they're people and can't possibly get used to each other like that" though... you should just be able to react and play and not care who's on your line. Another idiot had "trade 4 Russians and 2 defensemen for Bouwmeester". And who plays? Sorry, but Bou doesn't make a complete team.
My suggestion: clone Pacioretty.
