Getting some deja vu

Ok, first off before everyone seatbelts into Fleury's giant SUVwagon for Team Canada duty at the Olympics...I would like to say you're a little loopy if you think so... I can just see them a step away from winning gold when he plays the puck right to a Russian sniper for a backbreaking go ahead goal. (Unless the apparently All-Star Defense in front of him shuts down the Red Army, but I digress). I'd give him the #3 slot if there's no one else.

Well, Pens barely broke a sweat on this one. And unless the BabyHawks can pull a miracle out of their arse, it'll be...just like last year... Detroit vs Pittsburgh, only with Hossa on the other team, ready to be lined up and creamed by Orpik.

But seriously Crosby to Guerin... Look familiar?

Have fun, children...

Failure thy name be ELBOWS

Someone should inform Patrick Eaves that UFC moves are not proper NHL defense. Despite all his flying elbows, and the fact he only managed to connect with Staal for one after-whistle elbow to the face, he gets caught for a tripping penalty.

Here's to you Mr. Stupid NHL Ref That Doesn't Care To Stop Headshots and Elbowing. You're a Real Man of Genius.

I mean, really?

So I was able to catch two of the Hawks goals and saw Havlat get rocked by that fucker Kromagnonwall (you know he'll end someone's career one of these days) before I went off to see Terminator Salvation. Apparently nuclear fallout is a large Baysplosion and a mere hotlamp, but I digress. Then upon my return, I discovered Khabibulin was pulled and replaced by Huet and that the 3rd back-up was on the bench. Oh fiddlesticks... If Khabi is hurt, then may god have mercy on your souls, young BabyHawks...

Thankfully the BabyHawks won. Better 'cause it was in overtime. Suck it, Hockey Robots. Take your 3 hour board battle and shove it.

Havlat and Khabi better be OK...

Know your goat!

For the West, I nominate Brian Campbell for "Goat of the Game" in game 2! A man of his calibre and pricetag really shouldn't be waltzing around the net when his team could use a goal while his entire team is watching him and going "wtf shoot!", nor should he be shooting wide so much, nor should he screw up holding the blueline in overtime and cause a 3-on-1 and a game over as he was unable to get back to help. To Brian Campbell, I baaaaah you.

Now for the East, I nominate...the entire Whinercanes as "Goat of the Game" in their own game 2! In a losing cause, with a game well out of reach, you don't do the hit/crosscheck on an icing call and then get totally owned by Letang and Satan, and then take a bunch more penalties. I mean like how many times are you going to slash away at Fedotenko and Adams? I swear...I thought that game would never end..

Anyhoo...Pens and Hockey Robots are up 2-0 on their series. Looking for a rematch, yada yada yada...

Offseason Sucks: WTF trade rumour of the day...

I hate the offseason. Did I mention this before? I'm sure I did... As if last week's barfjob trade rumour du jour of Price for Luongo straight up moments after the Crapnucks got punched out of the playoffs wasn't bad enough, today's is even worse. Chew on this one: Briererer and some top prospect for Price and the rights to talk to Komo.

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrl...

Seriously, where do people come up with this crap?

When Brierererer decided to say no to Bob last time he went after him, it made Bob into a genius. Unless of course you're a Chez Nous type French Canadian... Briererer is way too expensive and not worth that price per production. Never mind the number 1 netfan complaint of the Habs already being a pack of midgets, do we need another one? We got cheaper younger ones in the pipeline. Plus we got a Briererer type: his name is Tanguay (assuming he comes back, and probably will). Only he's taller, but equally made of glass. Difference is Tango is younger by a few years and has some better jewelry.

Also since when is just chatting to Komo worth a Sbisa, or a Van Riemsdyk, or a Gauthier? And just why would would the Flyers give away any of those guys?

As for Price, unless Bob Gainey turns out to actually be Rejean Houle in a Bob Gainey suit, forget about it. And don't even bring up the crap about his dad being drafted by the Flyers. Never mind the fact WE WON'T HAVE A FUCKING GOALIE YOU IDIOTS! And if you think a Halak-Denis tandem will be ok you're smoking some sweet poutine.

Normally I avoid rumours, however the idiots on the radio think because there's nothing to do it would be cool to mention it...every...fucking...hour...

Give me October, please.

Adventures in Montreal: My First Home

If you've been wondering why I've been rather quiet here (other than a few nights of mad twitterchatter) it's because I'm now on my second hectic week of settling into my first home. Last January I plunked down 10k (with a few more Ks to follow) and bought a condo not all that far from my parents house. Walking distance, in fact. Spent 3 years to find this place. I scoured nearly the entire island, and even off island, for a place that was in my price range and met my tastes and needs. And when they ask you to pay 18k for a parking space downtown, you say "thanks but I can get that for free in the West Island".

The very first condo I saw in St-Laurent though was what I really wanted but it was too expensive at the time, and St-Laurent didn't demerge from Montreal, and you could wave at the pilots as they land their planes in Dorval (lovely). Too bad though because my heart is still set on that one. Another one in Lachine was absolutely gorgeous and right across from the water, but also too expensive for my budget. Now that newscaster on CTVnews has it (my dad's friends with his dad). One other that captured my heart was unfortunately in the heart of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve...with a truck depot for a neighbor (it was the Whippet cookie factory). Originally I saw the place I eventually bought when they had the first building, but I wasn't totally taken with it. Three years later and I get a steal on a pre-construction for their third building, after seeing pretty much EVERYTHING and realizing nothing was better. Also got to seriously expand my savings. (Thank god for ING, and Gameloft's stock options...yeah, I actually did manage to get something good out of those bastiches).

Spent my entire Christmas vacation painting until I couldn't move (I got lots of walls for a 1-bedroom apartment...big walls 'cause of the 9ft ceilings). Went hunting for deals for things I was missing (my kitchen chairs are from some office warehouse without a name that I happened to drive by on my way to get my TV from J Sonic). I swear I've raided Ikea, not that I didn't already have a bus load of Ikea stuff... And scored the most awesomest sofa (on sale) from Structube (sold to me by a guy who's friends with Max Talbot). Last night I survived spider hell to put a rubber snap-together-floor into my locker cage in the concrete bunker of a storage area. All that's left is boxes boxes boxes.

So far everything has been ok. I just hate my toilet... It's apparently made for giant asses and flushes weird. One day I'll change it.

Best part though? Building is still a bit empty (which is kind of creepy) but the people I've met are big Habs fans. Sounds like a party~!

Plan the parade!

Signed. Sealed. Giddy to deliver. If the NHL had an award for Best Smile on a Player, he'd be owning that category. Turns 20 years old today, and is now officially under contract for 3 years with his favourite team (and his dad's favourite team), our Montreal Canadiens. And let me tell you, NHL PK Subban is not the freewheeling super risk taking OHL PK Subban. He knows he doesn't have to over compensate for his teammates because he knows the guys around him can play their roles. However he's a bundle of energy, and has the tendency to be a polarizing clutchman, so if you're down 3-0 expect him to be the one to change the tides. Also, Weber and Subban lurking the blueline together is Habs powerplay 2010. I guarantee it.

Any kid who says he wakes up every morning and waves to his Habs flag on his wall SHOULD NOT be traded for Vinny Lecav, thank you.

Did I also mention he's a human quote machine?

Here come the Hawks

And tonight Chicago asploded as the Blackhawks reach the Conference Finals for the first time in like 15 years.

First victim of the Blackhawks were the Calgary Lames.

And now they drop kicked the Crapnucks. Canadian teams be damned, I hate the Crapnucks. Seven goals on Luongo, including a Pat Kane hat trick of awesome. Seven to five on Khabibulin. And it wasn't like the refs weren't trying to help, because they were. Only the Crapnucks failed both on the power play and the penalty kill, while the Hawks went 3-for-4. And what a goal by Burish. The other day, Byfuglien scored two. Tonight, when they really needed something, the fourth line came in to kick it in high gear. And Versteeg also scored a lovely. I wonder if Bruins fans wonder what could have been if they hadn't traded him for some guy who's with the Lightning now (I think).

And so, Crapnucks, enjoy your summer. Don't be too hard on Luongo.

Oh yea, fuck you Mats. Go Hawks!
